Our Philosophy and History

Rainbow Bridge Philosophy

The Founders, Co-Founders, and Members of the TBC Board of Directors share a belief,
We have Faith that when we lose our Fur-Babies, that they are taken immediately to a place to wait for us.
That place is called the “Rainbow Bridge”. The following, describes the philosophy to which we subscribe.
Just this side of heaven, is a place called The Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal that has been especially close to someone here passes, they then go to The Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows, and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine. Rest assured, our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Teddy and Mama

Teddy and his “Mama” did everything, and traveled everywhere together. When He was still a puppy, he had such separation anxiety that he began to cry very loud, He chewed through wallpaper, and wall board. It was evident that Teddy needed a little extra attention, or at least, something to help him understand that Mama would always be around to calm him. From that day until the very last day of his life whenever Mama had to leave him home, she would keep the radio or TV on for him. This worked to let Teddy know that the noise he heard would be turned off only by Mama. During Teddy’s weeks on “doggie-hospice”, the TV was a constant source of calm for him, and for Mama. One of the movies that they listened to together while Teddy was getting his pain treatment’s, was “Joyful Noise”.  The song they heard on this movie was, “To The Moon”. The very words that Mama used say to Teddy whenever she went to school or work.  Teddy is and was loved, and missed by many, many people that range from the mid-west to the south, and east coasts. He was a very special boy, and instantly would win friends wherever they traveled. One of his own unique treats to his “Aunt Weeze,” was to bow his head in front of his Mama as if to pray. This act of Teddy’s so tickled his Aunt Weeze that she often talked about him to her friends at her church.  Another self taught pleasure to watch Teddy do was to open his own presents at Christmas, and his birthday. This ALWAYS intrigued everyone who was with him at that time. He also was able some how to recognize his own Christmas stocking, and would pull it down from the mantle. Teddy was a very good boy, gave plenty of kisses, and was always excited to make new friends, and never forgetting his old friends.

He loved cats, it's no secret that some dogs do not. Teddy loved cats so much though, that he had two of his own; Muffin, and Makayla. Teddy was with Muffin when she passedd, and when he was losing the battle with his own health, Makayla was by his side, Loving, and keeping him warm. Teddy had many friends, canine, and feline alike.

Bugsy was his best friend, they enjoyed running free together in New Jersey, inside a fenced-in roller blading rink. Along with his adopted sister Jackie, the group loved to take rides in the car, looking out the windows, going “trick-or-treating”, and they even got together for Christmas! Teddy was given his name by the owners of the Puppy Play Pen, it was here that He, and Mama first met. Because of this very unique dog named Teddy, the Teddy-Bear-Care organization was created to keep this kind of love alive in his honor, and memory.

Teddy was named after the teddy bear that He always had to sleep with. From the very first day, until his last, he had a “baby” similar to a soft-teddy bear. Teddy bears represent affection, security, and love. That also, was Teddy, and is what TBC is all about. Providing that affection, security, and Love to all the babies in need of that little extra, that otherwise might not be available to them without TBC.

Teddy lived to be 19 years old, and was able to do so because Mama made him a promise, to always do everything she could to keep him well. Help us at TBC today to be Teddy’s extension of love, and compassion to those who need it.

Thank you.
